Which Greek goddess are you? 12 goddesses and their personalities
Meet the six Olympian goddesses and six more, from Athena and Aphrodite to Persephone and Hecate. What each one ruled and the personality behind the myths.

Most lists of Greek goddesses stop at the famous ones. But the myths are full of goddesses with very different personalities: rulers and rebels, healers and troublemakers, homebodies and wanderers.
Here are the six goddesses of Olympus, six more that people search for just as often, and the kind of person each one tends to describe.
The six Olympian goddesses
Six of the classic twelve Olympians are goddesses, if you count Hestia, who sometimes held the twelfth seat instead of Dionysus. (We covered the gods too, in the twelve Olympians explained.)
| Goddess | Ruled over | Roman name | Symbol | You might be her if… |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hera | Marriage, family | Juno | Peacock, crown | You're loyal to the bone and never forget a broken promise |
| Demeter | Harvest, grain | Ceres | Wheat | You show love with food, rides, and checking in |
| Athena | Wisdom, strategy, crafts | Minerva | Owl, olive tree | You're the friend everyone calls for a plan |
| Artemis | Hunt, wilderness, moon | Diana | Bow, deer | You need space and protect your small circle hard |
| Aphrodite | Love, beauty | Venus | Dove, scallop shell | People drift toward you, and you have great taste |
| Hestia | Hearth, home | Vesta | The hearth fire | You're the calm center everyone comes home to |
What each Olympian goddess is really like
Hera was queen of the gods and goddess of marriage. Her myths are mostly about loyalty and what happens when it's broken. If you hold people to their word and expect the same back, you're probably a Hera.
Demeter kept the world fed. When her daughter Persephone was taken to the underworld, Demeter's grief stopped the harvest, and the myth says that's where winter came from. She's the caretaker whose love is practical and constant.
Athena was born fully grown and armored from Zeus's head. She ruled wisdom and smart, planned warfare, and she also looked after weaving and other crafts. She's calm under pressure and almost always right.
Artemis asked Zeus to let her stay unmarried and roam the wild, and he agreed. She protected young animals and the women and girls who prayed to her. She's independent, outdoorsy, and fiercely loyal to a few people.
Aphrodite, said to have risen from the sea foam, ruled love and beauty. Even the gods couldn't resist her. She's warm, magnetic, and knows how to make an ordinary night feel special.
Hestia was the firstborn of the original Titan parents Cronus and Rhea, and the goddess of the hearth. Every Greek home kept her fire burning, and she got the first offering at every sacrifice. She has almost no dramatic myths, which is the point. She's the steady, peaceful one who keeps everyone together.
Six more goddesses people love
The Olympians get most of the attention, but these six show up in searches, tattoos, and favorite-myth lists all the time.
| Goddess | Ruled over | Roman name | Personality in a line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Persephone | Spring, the underworld | Proserpina | Sweet on the surface, a queen underneath |
| Hecate | Magic, crossroads, the night | Trivia | Mysterious, independent, and a little witchy |
| Nike | Victory | Victoria | Competitive, fast, and built to win |
| Nyx | Night | Nox | Quiet power that even Zeus respected |
| Iris | The rainbow, messages | Iris | Upbeat, quick, and the link between everyone |
| Eris | Strife, discord | Discordia | Loves a little chaos and isn't sorry about it |
Persephone is the goddess with two lives. She spends spring and summer above ground with her mother Demeter, and the rest of the year as queen of the underworld. People who feel like they have a soft side and a dark side often pick her.
Hecate watched over crossroads, keys, torches, and magic. In the Persephone myth, she was the one who helped Demeter search with her torches. She's the patron of anyone who does things their own way and doesn't explain it.
Nike, the winged goddess of victory, was often shown standing in Athena's or Zeus's hand. She's pure drive. If you hate losing, even at board games, she's yours.
Nyx is older than the Olympians, a primordial goddess of night. In the Iliad, even Zeus holds back rather than anger her. She's quiet, deep, and much more powerful than she looks.
Iris carried messages between gods and people, traveling on the rainbow, often on errands for Hera. She's the friend who keeps the group chat alive and knows what's going on with everyone.
Eris started the most famous fight in Greek myth. Left off the guest list for a wedding, she tossed in a golden apple marked "for the fairest." Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite all claimed it, and the argument that followed led to the Trojan War. She's chaos with a sense of humor.
