Parlor Velvet
Romantic, theatrical, and unafraid of too much.
Round edges, warm light, things that look touchable
You want things that look like they already have a history
More is the point — texture, color, and something to look at
Who you are
Deep color, heavy fabric, and a lot of it. You like rooms that feel like a scene and outfits that suggest something is about to happen. Where other people see clutter, you see abundance, and you are correct about at least half of it.
This is the aesthetic of people who think beauty should be a bit overwhelming. You're drawn to texture you can feel from across a room — velvet, brass, glass, anything that catches light and holds it.
The failure mode is that maximalism without editing turns into a pile. The difference between opulent and cluttered is almost entirely negative space, and negative space is the thing you find hardest to leave alone.
Pick your best corner and remove three things from it. Not permanently — just look at it emptier for a week and see if you miss them.
You know it's you when…
- You own more than one thing made of velvet and regret none of it
- Your rooms photograph better than they measure on paper
- Someone has called your place a lot, and you took it as a win
