The Bulldozer
Things move when you're on them. Things also get flattened.
Out the door at 80 percent, because version two is where it gets good
Fifteen minutes on a call beats four days of a thread every time
Hand it to you and it comes back done, with nobody chased along the way
Who you are
You go fast, you sort things out by talking, and once it's yours you run it to the end without checking in. Projects that would have sat in a queue for three weeks get finished by Thursday because you decided they were happening.
Every team needs at least one of you and most teams don't have enough. You break the deadlock where everyone agrees something should happen and nobody starts. You'll take the unclear brief, make five calls, and produce something real from it.
The cost lands on the people downstream. Decisions get made in conversations they weren't in, work occasionally gets redone because you moved before the picture was complete, and quieter colleagues find that by the time they've formed an opinion you've already shipped it.
Before the thing goes out, name one person who should have seen it and send it to them. One extra hour, a lot less rework.
You know it's you when…
- Something shipped in a week that had sat around for a month
- A decision got made on a call that two people missed
- You redid work because you started before the brief was clear
