This is taste built on restraint rather than reference. You're not chasing an era — you're chasing objects that were designed properly and haven't needed to change since. It ages extremely well, which is the whole point.
The trap is that useful can quietly become joyless. When every object has to justify itself, the room ends up correct and slightly humorless, and you'll feel it before you can name it.
