The Blowtorch
Nothing waits, nothing is hidden, nothing is conceded.
You deal with it while it is happening, because waiting feels worse
Whatever you are feeling is fully visible to everyone in the room
It is not finished until the true version of events is agreed on
Who you are
You engage the moment it comes up, at full volume, and you are aiming at the truth of the thing. There is no version of you that lets a wrong claim sit on the table overnight while everyone pretends it is fine.
The advantage is real and people underrate it. Nothing rots in your relationships. You do not accumulate a silent ledger, you do not go cold for a week, and anyone dealing with you knows exactly where they stand at all times.
The cost is that the other person is doing two jobs at once — following your argument and managing the intensity it arrives with. Even when you are completely right, a lot of what they retain afterward is the weather, not the point. And someone who shuts down under pressure will simply stop telling you things.
You don't need to go quiet. Ask one question before you make your third point, and let them finish the answer.
You know it's you when…
- Somebody stopped arguing with you and you counted it as winning
- You were right, and it still made the week worse
- You have never once let a wrong statement sit overnight
