The Strategist
Strong opinions, low volume, zero first texts.
You watch the room better from slightly outside it
If it isn't decided, you decide it
You're thrilled when they call. You just don't call
Who you are
You're on the edge of the group, you have clear views on how things should go, and you almost never initiate anything. When you do engage it's decisive — you'll say the thing everyone's been avoiding, or make the call nobody wanted to make.
This makes you unusually valuable in exactly two situations: a hard decision and an awkward truth. Groups need someone with enough distance to see the shape of things, and that person is you.
Between those moments, though, you're barely there. You don't reach out, you don't maintain, and your friendships have a low-frequency, high-stakes rhythm that some people find hard to stay close to.
Add maintenance. Not a personality change — one text a month to someone you'd genuinely miss. The judgment is already excellent; it's the contact that's thin.
You know it's you when…
- You see the shape of the group better than people inside it
- You say the thing everyone's been carefully avoiding
- Months go by without you initiating anything
