This is the most efficient possible relationship with money: the discipline lives in the system rather than in your willpower, so you never have to feel bad in a restaurant. Most people try to do this with self-control and lose.

The failure mode is subtle — the system keeps running while your life changes around it, and you end up over-saving for a version of yourself you stopped being three years ago, or under-saving because the number never moved with your income.
