The Firestarter
Magnetic, unpredictable, and generous to a fault.
You want the person the room notices first
You need someone who could still surprise you
You want to be looked after, out loud
Who you are
You're drawn to the person who walks in and changes the temperature. They're a little unpredictable, occasionally reckless, and startlingly generous — the type who'd book a spontaneous trip and pay for the whole thing without mentioning it again.
The pull is real and it isn't shallow. People like this make your life bigger. Around them you do things you wouldn't have done, meet people you wouldn't have met, and remember specific nights years later.
The cost is stability, and you've probably already paid it once. Generosity and volatility often come from the same place, and the version of them that surprises you with a trip is the same one who'll change plans an hour before.
You don't have to pick a duller person. You do have to check one thing: are they exciting, or are they just inconsistent? Those two feel identical for about three months and completely different at the one-year mark.
You know it's you when…
- Your best stories all involve one specific person
- You've forgiven a lot in exchange for never being bored
- Stability has, at least once, felt like a downgrade
