Who you are

Nobody did anything wrong. They were passive in small private ways for a long time — no plans, no opinions, no pull — and the feeling drained out so slowly that you can't date its departure. You just eventually noticed the room was empty.

This is the gentlest ick and the most confusing one. There's no story to tell, no flaw to name, and when friends ask what happened you genuinely can't produce an answer that sounds like a reason.

The cost of the slow version is time. You'll usually stay a full season past the point of knowing, partly out of fairness — it feels unjust to leave someone who never did anything wrong. But staying without wanting to isn't fairer to them.

Give yourself a check-in date rather than an incident. If it still feels like this in a month, that counts as a reason.
