The Social Battery
Full charge or zero. There is no 50%.
Quiet time is how your battery fills back up after a big day
You jump in early and figure the room out by talking to it
Once you're out, you can go for hours without running low
Who you are
When you're on, you're all the way on. You jump in, you stay out, and you can carry a whole weekend of plans. Then the battery hits zero and you vanish for a few days. Friends have learned that both versions are you.
You recharge alone, but you don't socialize like an introvert. You socialize like you're spending a full tank, because you are. That swing is one of the most common ambivert patterns, and it's also why you can feel like two different people depending on the week.
The skill to build is pacing. Instead of one huge weekend followed by a disappearing act, try spreading it out. A steady medium feels less dramatic, but it's easier on you and easier on the people who keep wondering where you went.
You know it's you when…
- You did three plans in one weekend and then left every text on read until Wednesday
- Friends asked if you were mad at them when you just needed a few quiet days
- You said yes to everything on Friday and regretted most of it by Sunday
