Twenty-One
Same bar, same people, same table, until 2am.
You found the good version already and you are not relitigating it
It gets handled, but only once it is genuinely due
Your best hours start after most people have gone to bed
Who you are
You are not chasing novelty and you are not chasing deadlines, but you are absolutely still up. You have a place, a group, an order you always get, and you would happily do that exact night again next week.
This is the most underrated way to be in your twenties, and it produces something real: depth. While other people are collecting new experiences, you are collecting hours with the same eight people, and ten years from now that is the group that still knows everything about you.
The risk is that comfort and lateness together can quietly become a holding pattern. Nothing bad happens. Nothing much happens either, and a year can pass that is genuinely indistinguishable from the one before it.
Add one new thing a season. Keep everything else exactly as it is — the point isn't to change your life, it's to make sure the years stay tellable apart.
You know it's you when…
- You order the same thing and have for years
- Last year and the year before are hard to tell apart
- The same eight people know everything about you
