You look unbothered because you mostly are. Emotional weather — yours or anyone's — registers as a variable rather than an event, and you handle it by understanding it, which is not the same as feeling it with someone. People find you clear and occasionally cold.
You take things apart for a living, whether or not anyone is paying you. A claim arrives and you're immediately checking whether the words in it actually mean anything, which makes you excellent at finding the flaw and exhausting at making a decision.
Your relationship with unfinished things is the whole story. You have more open loops than anyone you know — projects at eighty percent, ideas that would have worked, systems you designed and never built — and each one felt complete to you the moment you understood how it would go.
The gap this creates is that being right and being helpful come apart. You'll deliver a correction that's completely accurate to someone who needed thirty seconds of acknowledgment first. Thirty seconds. That's the whole adjustment, and it makes the accurate part land instead of bounce.
