The Mountain
Nothing moves you. That is exactly why people trust you.
Growth. Starting things and pushing upward.
Warmth. Being seen and lighting up a room.
Steadiness. Holding people and plans together.
Edge. Standards, decisions, cutting what's extra.
Depth. Reading the room and finding a way around.
Who you are
Yang Earth — 戊, mu — is the mountain. Big, stable, and exactly where it was yesterday. You're the person everyone orients around without realizing it. In a crisis, the room gets quieter when you walk in, because you haven't changed at all.
You're reliable in a way that's almost boring to describe: you show up, you hold the line, you keep secrets. People tell you things because they know they'll stay put. You don't need to be the center of attention to be the center of the group.
The flip side of immovable is immovable. Once you've settled on something, it takes geological time to change your mind, and you can mistake stubbornness for principle. You also carry a lot without mentioning it, because mountains don't complain about the weight.
The thing to practice is letting people climb you. Being solid is a gift; being unreachable is a different thing that looks similar from a distance.
You know it's you when…
- Everything was falling apart and you were the calmest person there
- Someone told you a secret because they knew it would stay put
- You changed your mind about something for the first time in years
