The Garden
Things grow around you, and you rarely take the credit.
Growth. Starting things and pushing upward.
Warmth. Being seen and lighting up a room.
Steadiness. Holding people and plans together.
Edge. Standards, decisions, cutting what's extra.
Depth. Reading the room and finding a way around.
Who you are
Yin Earth — 己, gi — is garden soil: the field, the dirt things actually grow in. The mountain holds its ground; you feed it. You're the person whose friends, coworkers and projects seem to do better just from being near you.
You're practical in a warm way. You notice who hasn't eaten, who needs a ride, what's about to fall through. You adapt to people easily and make them comfortable, and you're often the one quietly keeping a group from coming apart.
Soil takes in everything, though, including things it shouldn't. You absorb worry, other people's stress, and a lot of small obligations you never actually agreed to. You also underrate yourself — most gardens don't know they're the reason anything is growing.
Worth doing on purpose: plant something for yourself. Not for the group, not as a favor. Something that's just yours.
You know it's you when…
- Your friend group only stays in touch because you keep it going
- You noticed someone hadn't eaten before they noticed it themselves
- Someone thanked you and you honestly didn't know what for
