Who you are

You answer in seconds, in pieces, at full volume. A thought arrives and it's sent before it's finished, then the next one, then a correction to the first. Talking to you feels less like exchanging messages and more like standing next to you while things happen.

The effect on the other person is real warmth. There's no waiting, no wondering, no reading into a gap — you are visibly, continuously present, and most people find that enormously reassuring without ever naming it.

The cost is that you leave no room. Someone composing a careful reply will look up to find four new messages have arrived and their answer is now out of date. Slower texters often go quiet around you, not from disinterest but because they can't find the gap.

Try sending one thing and then waiting. Not as a rule, just occasionally — the pause is where the other person gets to exist.
