The Firestarter
You say it, it lands hard, and you're already over it.
When things wobble you loosen your grip and drift
You'd rather have it out loudly than sit in it
You stay in control of how the situation makes you look
Who you are
You're direct, you go hot fast, and you don't hold on afterward. You'll say the sharp thing in the moment, mean it entirely, and be genuinely fine an hour later — which is exactly the part that confuses everyone else.
There's something clean about it. You don't do silent treatment, you don't do sideways comments, and people always know where they stand with you. Compared to the alternatives, that's a real gift.
The cost is that other people don't reset as fast as you do. You've moved on; they're still holding what you said, and to them your quick recovery looks like the words didn't count. They did — you just don't carry them.
After the next flare, go back within a day and check what landed. Not to apologize necessarily — just to look at it.
You know it's you when…
- You've been completely fine an hour after a fight nobody else was over
- People always know where they stand with you, for better or worse
- Something you said in a flare is still being quoted back to you
